South African battling to force draw

South African is 4/311 in their second innings heading in to the final day of the first test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The Proteas are still 276 behind Sri Lanka's first innings which closed at 6/756 declared after Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene 374 and Kumar Sangakkara287 put on a record partnership of 624.

Jayawardene's 374 was the third highest score in Test Match cricket, behind only world record holder Brian Lara's 400 and Matthew Hayden's 380.
