Sri Lanka draws first blood
Sri Lanka won the first final in the best of three series against Australia in Adelaide tonight after the world champions self destructed with five run outs to lose by 22 runs at the Adelaide Oval.
Tillakaratne Dilshan was responsible for four of five run outs, including the key wicket of Australian captain Ricky Ponting who was dismissed without facing a ball as Australia finished with 252 runs, 24 behind Sri Lanka's total of 8-274.
Kumar Sangakkara (83) and Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu (53) gave Sri Lanka a chance as they laid the foundations before some lusty hitting by Chamara Kapudegara (38 from only 21 balls) gave Sri Lanka a more than competitive total.

Adam Gilchrist and Simon Katich added 51 for the opening stand as Australia set about reeling in the Sri Lankan total.
Gilchrist was dismissed for 26 before the hosts lost their skipper Ponting and Damien Martyn to run outs leaving the home side in disarray at 3-64.
Muttiah Muralitharan who finished with 3/40 deceived Andrew Symonds before Katich (56) was run out by Dilshan. Michael Clarke (80) was eventually run out on a forgettable night for the world champions.
Game 2 of the finals series will be played on Sunday in Sydney with Game 3 (if required) scheduled for Brisbane on Tuesday.
