Gretzky begins coaching career with first up win

The Legendary Wayne Gretsky hung up his skates and made his coaching debut Friday in Arizona. Gretsky took his place high above the ice in the Glendale Arena to watch his team play. The Phoenix Coyotes victoriously out iced the Minnesota Wild 3-2.

During the first period of play Gretsky's Coyotes were stung when the Wild took the lead before Morris tied it up 1-1 late in the period as the Coyotes hit back.

Minnesota was to be no pushover as they retook the lead in the second period when they capitalized on a rebound to put the puck into the net through the legs of Phoenix goalie Brian Boucher to grab a 2-1 halftime lead.

The Coyotes wasted little time in the third period to even the score to set up an exciting final period. The legend that is Wayne Gretsky would begin his coaching career with a first up win courtesy of Nagy who tapped in pass from Kolanos.

The Coyotes and Gretsky will be out to make it two from two when they travel to Minnesota to play at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday.
