Gretzky's Coyotes lose first game

"The Great One" Wayne Gretsky suffered a first up NHL loss when the Phoenix Coyotes lost 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night. The Canucks led 2-0 after two periods before the Coyotes got back into the game midway through the third period.

The Canucks answered almost immediately with a 2 on 1 break to make it 3-1 with the Coyotes scoring with 43 seconds remaining to make it 3-2.

Gretsky said afterwards, "We want to win every night but we've got 81 more games to go and if I get the effort like that tonight and we keep improving from where we were three weeks ago to now, we'll win our share of games. Believe me."
